Give the gift of KLRU! End our Fund Drive early!

holiday-2016

Give the gift of KLRU this holiday season! We have gifts, giveaways and heaps of cheer to say thank you!

Oh, and guess what? We have less than $10,000 left until we hit our goal. If we reach $220,000 by midnight tonight, we’ll end our Winter Fund Drive ahead of schedule and return to your regular, uninterrupted programming tomorrow.
YOUR support could end the drive one day early! It’s not too late to make an impact and get a thank you gift (or two) for yourself and loved ones.

Gift exchanging time is closing in and KLRU has some great offers! Some of the most popular thank you gifts of the drive have literally been flying off the shelves—like Nature Super Hummingbirds. Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price together—if you’re a fan of classic outlaw country, then Last of the Breed is for you! And Downton Abbey—It will always set the bar. It will always be worth re-watching. And Lady Mary will always look fabulous while being terrible to Edith.

Everyone loves a giveaway, and we have LOTS! There’s a chance to win tickets to see Odd Squad Live! at the Long Center or warm up this winter drinking from your own Mr. Rogers sweater changing mug! Love Hamilton? Because KLRU certainly does. Enter to get a copy of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new Hamilton Mixtape. Some lucky Masterpiece fan out there will scoop up Seasons 1 & 2 of Poldark. We’ve even got a drawing for portable phone chargers—they sure do come in handy while traveling. And, of course, any true public television fan wants to throw a hat in the ring for a retro PBS tote bag! Those groceries aren’t going to carry themselves! (Entries close December 15.)

Your support will truly ensure that YOUR KLRU has a holiday season that is merry and bright! Now here’s to enjoying some eggnog, hanging some lights and maybe even putting on a Christmas episode of Downton Abbey!

Koko & Mister Rogers

MrRogersMug

Tune into KLRU tonight at 7pm and watch Koko: The Gorilla Who Talks.

This documentary is perfect for the whole family. Getting an in-depth look at Koko learning to communicate and connect with humans through sign language is incredibly powerful. With the help of her devoted teacher, Penny Patterson, this amazing animal truly built a bridge between our two species. The lessons we still learn from Koko about the threads that bind us all together are as important as ever.

Did you know that Koko is a huge Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood fan? The first time she met him, she sat down and took off his shoes—just like Mister Rogers did at the beginning of each of his shows. Koko even appeared on an episode in 1998!

To commemorate both Koko and Mister Rogers, we’re giving away a Sweater Changing Mister Rogers mug!

Engage with us on social media or make a donation to #yourKLRU for a chance to win.

To enter, just send us a picture of you or someone you know changing shoes. If you happen to be wearing a Mister Rogers type sweater while you do, all the better.

Hamilton: The Mixtape. (It’s so good.) Win a copy, join the revolution!

1216Pledge-Blog-H-MixTape

How could KLRU not jump on the Hamilton bandwagon?!
This Broadway phenomenon has broken records and charmed America with its diverse casting and innovative style. If only high school history class had been so entertaining!

With Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda created a blend of Broadway bravado, rhythmic hip-hop and political intrigue that is massively entertaining, but why stop there? The Hamilton Mixtape is the newest effort from Miranda—an album of covers from the hit musical with a who’s who list of modern recording artists—and KLRU is giving away copies of the CD this December!
