Mumford & Sons “The Cave”
One of the world’s hottest bands, London’s Mumford & Sons delivered its singular vision of folk music to the ACL audience in 2011. Originally from the band’s debut LP Sigh No More, “The Cave” also closes out its episode.
British rock titan Coldplay first visited Austin City Limits in 2005 as it ascended to superstardom, returning in 2011 for a New Year’s Eve special. “Yellow,” the band’s career-making hit, first appeared on its debut album Parachutes and in its first episode.
Our 2nd Annual Big Deal raffle has come to a close and our grand prize winner is Maxine L. of Austin, Texas. Throughout 2014, we’ll check in with Maxine and update youon her year filled with the best of Austin music and events.
The best part is that our 2014 Big Deal entrants helped us raise over $30,000 in a single month. 100% of the proceeds go directly to KLRU and support local public broadcasting and production of local content.
Thank you to all who supported us through the campaign, we hope you’ll be a part again next year, and congratulations to The Big Deal Maxine!
An investment in KLRU is an investment in YOUR community! We are thrilled to be participating in the second annual Amplify Austin community-wide giving day, beginning Thursday, March 20 at 6pm and ending at 6pm Friday, March 21.
Amplify Austin, presented by I Live Here, I Give Here, is an initiative to increase philanthropy in Central Texas through online giving in a 24 hour period. Last year Amplify Austin, as a whole, raised over $2.8 million for the Central Texas community and this year their goal is to raise $4 million!
Last year, you helped KLRU raise over $12,000 from 130 people in the community – allowing us to provide:
300 artists a place to share their creativity
4,000 children with books and digital resources
750 parents & teachers with hands-on educational workshops
1,000 hours of Central Texas themed programming each year
100+ events on civil discourse and cultural understanding
Our goal for 2014 is to raise $18,500 from 200 people in the community and we need your help to reach it!
Ways you can be involved in helping KLRU to reach our 2014 Amplify Austin goal:
Share via Social Media! Last year, social networks were one of the primary mediums people used to share information about Amplify Austin and were then directed to give. Spread the word to your friends and family by liking/sharing/retweeting KLRU’s Amplify Austin posts on Facebook and Twitter or share why YOU support KLRU and why YOU think it’s important for your followers to support too!
Email your networks! Spread the word to your friends, family and coworkers and share KLRU’s Amplify Austin donation page with them. Engaging in conversation about KLRU, Amplify Austin and philanthropy in Central Texas will increase awareness about KLRU’s mission and build an audience of support to help us continue to provide high quality, commercial free television to all of Central Texas.
KLRU is so excited to be a part of this special community-wide giving day and we hope you’re just as eager to participate in it as we are!
KLRU held its 3rd Appraisal Fair in the historic Studio 6A on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Thank you to all of our donors from the June and December pledge drives for donating to attend the Appraisal Fair and share your stories with us.
A special thanks goes to our community volunteer appraisers who generously volunteered their time and expertise for this event. For more information on the appraisers in attendance that day, please visit our Appraisal Fair website.

The tapings for season 39 of Austin City Limits may be well under way, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still revel in the great times from season 38 – and what better way to remember the incredible line up than owning one (or all!) of the limited edition signed band posters.
To kick off the KLRU June fundraising drive, we have organized an eBay auction of signed, limited edition band posters from ACL’s season 38 – the auction will be up until June 13, so bid now and bid often to get your favorite performer’s poster into your personal collection.
Also available in the auction is an original poster signed by ALL artists at the KLRU All Star Celebration featuring The Dixie Chicks, Courtyard Hounds, Natalie Maines & Ben Harper in a tribute to Lloyd Maines with special guests Joe Ely, Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis, Terry Allen, Carolyn Wonderland & Terri Hendrix.

A new documentary produced by KLRU and journalist Lynn Boswell will explore questions of fairness, equality and what those words mean in university admissions nationwide.
To help fund production of this film, we are asking you to support our Indiegogo campaign. The goal of $25,000 will help with costs associated with travel, fact checking, research and use of archival materials. Funds raised through this campaign will directly support the production of this documentary.
There are great perks to thank you for your donation including an advance screening, panel & reception, as well as a private dinner. Supporting this effort shows you support quality journalism and public media.
Share, like and tweet about this project! More information can be found on our Indiegogo page.
