2x Challenge Alert: This news matters!

These days, as big events, big changes and big issues come at us fast, the trusted sources of news you find on KLRU take on even more value and importance.

PBS NewsHourFRONTLINE and Washington Week in Review offer the kind of reliable reporting and analysis you need – thoughtful, thorough, civil and TRUSTED.

At a time when the future of federal funding is in real danger, YOUR viewer support is absolutely vital! And longtime KLRU supporters Lonnie and Polly Cooper couldn’t agree more.

“In a mounting world of noise and political agendas, KLRU and PBS is one of the only media outlets that earns our trust and appreciation each and every day. It’s important to us that PBS presents a multitude of perspectives on a viewpoint, issue or event in history.”

This is why Lonnie and Polly Cooper are committed to making a big impact on KLRU’s Day of Giving with a $15,000 challenge match to the Central Texas community. For every dollar received today, the Coopers will contribute the same amount up to $15,000, potentially helping KLRU bring in a total of $30,000 (that’s halfway to our $60,000 goal)!

We did it! Thanks to YOU!

There’s no better way to say it… other than to say THANK YOU!

Raising $100,000 in five days, with no program interruption: that’s a tall order. But we saw firsthand how much public television means to Central Texans, raising over $108,000! You and 800 other donors gave because you believe that your only community-supported public television station is a vital local resource.

Your gift and and your stories made KLRU’s online fund drive a sincere success. The drive may be over, but the work of public television continues, and the challenges remain. Keep sharing “What’s #YourKLRU?” with others and we’ll continue responding with quality educational programming, local productions and important community services.

Thank you!

“We are over 75-years-old, love to dance and also like to keep up with what is happening in the world.  So we record PBS NewsHour from an antenna, and when we come in after dancing until 2:00AM we watch the news. The night life is a very good life and it’s our life. Thank you for what you do, please keep it up!”

So it’s your turn! Will you step up to tell us What’s #YourKLRU and effectively see your dollar doubled in an instant by this generous match?

Here’s another great testament to the importance of #YourKLRU from Nancy Pollard, Attorney and mom of three.

We are lucky to have such a powerhouse public broadcasting organization serving our city.”
