Thanks to all the families that joined us for the Sid the Science Kid Movie Premiere at Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek and Slaughter locations on Saturday.

Before the movie, we had fun playing catapult games in the lobby, posing for photos with Sid, and meeting Clifford the Big Red Dog!

WILD KRATTS “Rainforest Week”

In a week of episodes set in the rainforest, three new WILD KRATTS episodes featuring rainforest creatures premiere on April 1-3.

Monday, April 1, 4pm
Bugs Or Monkeys? – A miniaturized Martin wants to check out insects in the rainforest, but Chris wants to investigate the world of the Spider monkey. Chris wins when he puts “mini” Martin in his pack back and heads off through the treetops.

Tuesday, April 2, 4pm
Shadow: The Black Jaguar – Martin and Chris are trying to decide on their next wild cat adventure when they learn that Zach Varmitech has decided to “catnap” a Black Jaguar to use as a symbol for his new spybots.

Wednesday, April 3, 4pm
Rainforest Stew – When Chris and Martin go in search of an obscure rainforest creature to add to their Life Lists, the Wild Kratts becomes embroiled in the complex relationships of a tropical rainforest.

Thursday, April 4, 4pm
Walk On The Wetside – When Chris and Martin locate an amazing water-walking Basilisk lizard in Costa Rica, they try to replicate its actions in order to learn how this rare lizard is able to walk on water. They discover that by using its wide feet, churning its legs to create water pockets and keeping up a certain speed, the Basilisk is able to run on water in order to escape from predators. And when Donita Donata begins capturing basilisks, Martin and Chris us their new water walking powers to rescue these rare lizards.

Friday, April 5, 4pm
Kerhonk – When Martin’s and Chris’ Creature Power Suits unexpectedly get jammed in Proboscis monkey mode and the top monkey of the troop is injured protecting a youngster from a crocodile, the Kratt brothers find themselves stepping into the injured monkey’s role. While Aviva nurses the monkey back to health, Chris and Martin must keep the troop together and soon discover the important communication function of the proboscis monkeys strangest feature – his huge, droopy, bulbous nose! They uncover some of the different methods animals utilize to communicate important information to each other.

 

Shalom Sesame: It’s Passover Grover!

It is spring on Rechov Sumsum and Grover is excited to celebrate Passover at his first Seder, or Passover meal. As Shoshana, Avigail, Anneliese and Grover get ready for the Seder, Shoshana realizes she has no maror (bitter herbs) for the Seder plate, and stores have already closed! The gang visits their friends to try and findmaror to begin the Seder.

It’s Passover, Grover! showcases the Passover story, holiday preparations, and Hebrew words and phrases related to Passover. In the episode, viewers meet families whose holiday traditions originate in Ethiopia and Morocco, providing a glimpse into the diversity of the Jewish people.

WORDGIRL TAKES ON VILLAINS!

WordGirl  will premiere five new episodes on KLRU, starting March 11 at 3:30 PM, as part of “(M)Arch Enemy Week,” during which WordGirl will fight against a variety of the series’ most popular – and fan favorite – villains. WordGirl’s adventures that week will include battles for word domination against such formidable villains as Big Left Hand Guy, InvisiBill, Granny May, Dr. Two Brains, and many others.

When best friends Big Left Hand Guy and InvisiBill risk losing their super villain status, they decide to pull off their biggest heist to date. Can WordGirl stop this determined duo who always manage to escape her at the last minute?

Can Scoops, Becky, Bob and Violet find the treasure and evade The Butcher in time for Scoops to meet his deadline?

BEST FAN CLUB MEETING EVER
TJ plans a meeting to divulge a secret about WordGirl to International WordGirl Fan Club members. However, when Tobey finds out that a secret about his love/nemesis will be revealed, he crashes the meeting with an eavesdropping robot and threatens to destroy the clubhouse. WordGirl has to spring into action to save the clubhouse and her fans!

KLRU announces the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest! Designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on and active learning, the contest encourages children in grades K-3 to submit their own original illustrated stories.

How the Contest Works
Children in Central Texas can submit their entries to the PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest either by mailing their entries to KLRU or uploading their stories to our website: klru.org/writerscontest. The upload window begins March 1, 2013. All entries must be postmarked or uploaded by April 6th. A panel of local judges will select local winners for each grade level by April 20th and award prizes including books, toys and gift cards with an announcement and celebration on Saturday, April 27.

Celebrate Dr. Suess’ Birthday

Planet Name Game

To mark Dr. Seuss’ birthday, on Friday, March 1, at 8:30 am & 2:00 pm, KLRU-TV will premiere two back to back episodes of THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT! “Rumbly Tumbly/Planet Name Game.” Nick, Sally, and the rest of the Seussian gang join the Cat as they embark on adventures great and small. From a super-shrunken trip into Thing One’s stomach to learn why our tummies rumble to an epic endeavor in search of the Top of the Sky, both episodes feature the show’s signature whimsy and scientific curiosity.

 

Dinosaur Train: Submarine Adventure

Four undersea stories packaged together into a one-hour special!

When Buddy and his family want to follow some friends on an undersea fishing trip, the conductor unveils a new invention – the Dinosaur Train Submarine! On its maiden voyage, Otto Ophthalmosaurus guides the sub deep into the ocean using his big eyes that can see in the dark. Then, the family meets Shoshana Shonisaurus, an enormous marine reptile that’s something between a dolphin and a whale, and Maisie Mosasaurus, a huge fast swimming lizard with flippers. Finally, the family watches small eggs hatch on the beach. Baby Archelon turtles emerge and start to swim away. The family follows them on their journey across the ocean where they will grow up to be giant-sized sea turtles!

All of PBS’s favorite characters are celebrating Valentine’s Day! Follow their heart-filled adventures on Thursday, Feb. 14!

Martha Speaks -  6:30 am & 5 pm
Martha And The Thief of Hearts
The gang decides to make homemade valentines for each other. But when everybody’s art supplies begin disappearing, their affectionate mood begins to fade. Can Martha solve the mystery of the stolen supplies?

Super Why! – 9 am
Red doesn’t feel like much of a Princess, so how will she fit in at Sleeping Beauty’s princess party? The Super Readers magically leap into the book of Cinderella who has a party of her own to get to! When the clock strikes midnight, Red learns that she doesn’t need the help of a fairy godmother to feel great about who she is! Educational Objectives: To learn about feeling good about oneself, find the letters of the alphabet and practice the magic of spelling. Opposite words are used to change the story.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood – 10 am & 12:30 pm
You Are Special: The children are putting on a show at school today, each doing something that makes them special. O the Owl wants to be just like the others and, with a little encouragement, he learns that owls are special too. Daniel Is Special: Daniel and Dad take a fall walk through the neighborhood, admiring the colors of the leaves. On their way, they meet Miss Elaina and O the Owl who each do special things that make Daniel wonder if he is as special as they are. Dad reminds Daniel of the things that make him special, like his whimsical imagination!

Wordworld – 11 am
My Fuzzy Valentine: Bug wants to sign a valentine for his favorite WordFriend, but he doesn’t know how to write his name. With lots of encouragement from Frog, he learns that with a little practice he can write his name and give his valentine. Love, Bug: When Sheep decides she wants to make a special Valentine song for her pal Bear, she has trouble finding just the right rhyme to finish her song. With the help of Fly, she discovers the perfect rhyme and makes Bear a Valentine song with real heart.

Cyberchase – 1:30 pm
Hugs And Witches: It’s Valentine’s Day, and Hacker captures Doctor Marbles and Lady Ada Lovelace (Jane Curtin), placing them inside a time machine invented by the mathematically-minded Lovelace. The kids and Digit must decipher a series of poems left behind by Lady L, and free them from the time machine before it time travels to the nether world of cyberspace – never to return! Will the kids get there in time, or will Valentine’s Day bring nothing but broken hearts?

Arthur – 3 pm
Flea to Be You And Me: Pal is itching like crazy and the culprit is Pepe, an Italian circus flea. To save himself from being “squeeshed,” Pepe enthralls Kate, Pal, and Amigo with the story of his heartbreaking separation from brother Sale — followed by an incredible journey across four continents! Kiss And Tell: Emily returns from her summer in Paris with the amazing news that she’s been kissed …. by a boy! Just like in a fairy tale! Now D.W. wants a kiss so that she can be a princess, too. But where can she find her Prince Charming?

WordGirl – 3:30 pm
Cherish is the Word – It’s Valentines Day! All of the kids at school are making special valentines to share with their special friends. But when Victoria Best runs off with all of the cards, will she ruin Valentine’s Day for everyone? It’s up to WordGirl to swoop in and save the day. Granny’s Intuition – According to the local news Granny May seems to be figuring out who’s been committing the latest crime sprees that are sweeping the city. When Granny May chalks it up to her intuition, WordGirl has a hunch that this villain hasn’t changed her ways.
