KLRU is starting production for a new Web-only music series called ACL Stage Left. This show will premier on the Web this summer.

We’ll be taping a performance by Brazos on Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.) in the KLRU’s Studio 6A. RSVP by Thursday, May 7, here

Hailing from Austin’s fertile indie music scene, Brazos began as the solo recording project of songwriter Martin Crane, who debuted his smart, lyrical songs in 2007 with the acclaimed EP A City Just as Tall, which The Austin Chronicle called “an exciting revelation.”

Now a full rock band, Brazos spent the majority of 2008 recording their highly-anticipated debut album, Phosphorescent Blues, a hypnotic tour-de-force that combines raw energy and dance rhythms with the subtle intricacies of jazz and folk. “Their sound is all at once jazzy and melodic, moody and bright… [2009] should be their year to make good on roughly a year and a half worth of buzz,” wrote The Tripwire.

Leatherbag is the vision of songwriter Randy Reynolds, who creates “an intelligent blend of pop and rock” (Big Diction). Through several releases including 2006′s “haunting and beautiful” (Austin Sound) Love Me Like The Devil and 2007′s Nowhere Left To Run featuring songs “bristling with energy and vivid images” (Austin Chronicle), Reynolds has explored a wide variety of musical territory while steadily gaining fans.

ACL Stage Left is a new web music series brought to you by KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, the station responsible for the iconic PBS series Austin City Limits. Like its forerunner, ACL Stage Left features intimate performances of both bands you know and bands you’ll want know. ACL Stage Left will delve into the experience of music and the stories of the people who create it by featuring both performances and interviews with the artists. It will be presented this summer as part of klru.tv – a new online video resource.
