Mariachi Vargas en Concierto captivates heart and soul with a live concert experience of Mexico’s finest music with El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo, and some Texas favorites! Mariachi Vargas is one of the world’s most influential and revered mariachi groups, and has been since 1898. There have since been five generations of musicians. It’s time to introduce the sixth generation of Mariachi Vargas under the direction of the new violinist, vocalist and director, Carlos Martínez, nephew of the previous director José “Pepe” Martínez.
The award-winning Austin area performers Mariachi Nueva Generación from Texas State University and the “Best Mariachi Vocalist in the U.S.” William “Carlton” Gálvez from Kyle, Texas will start off the concert. A special guest appearance of the 11-year-old singing prodigy Angélica Vargas will launch her first recording for her self-titled CD.
