Exploring Architecture on KLRU Q 5/27

On Tuesday, KLRU Q will go beyond the aesthetics of architecture and into the meaning behind construction, and particularly, how design can promote healing and provide warmth.

Three locations that are designed for healing such as a center for brain health, a university health services building and a health science building are explored on the episode Healing Spaces of the series Cool Spaces! Check out these unusual structures at 8 p.m. on KLRU Q.

Architect Michael Graves: A Grand Tour documents the life of an architect who suddenly, 20 years into his career, suffered a nearly fatal illness that left him paralyzed. After experiencing years in and out of health institutions, he turned his career to focus on making cold-feeling places (i.e. hospitals) warm. Learn about his inspirational cause at 9 p.m.

The same Michael Graves has turned a 1920s warehouse in Princeton, New Jersey into his own home, nicknamed “The Warehouse.” The extraordinary and diverse interior is toured on Michael Graves: The Warehouse at 9:30 p.m. only on KLRU Q.
