neilByDavidGamble-800Neil deGrasse Tyson holds the Frederick P. Rose Directorship of the Hayden Planetarium. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Harvard University and his PhD from Columbia University in Astrophysics. He hosted NOVA ScienceNow on PBS for 5 seasons.  In 2001, Tyson was appointed to serve on a commission to study the US Aerospace Industry by President George W. Bush and again in 2004 on a commission referred to as the “Moon, Mars, and Beyond” commission.  He has been awarded the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal and received eighteen honorary doctorates. Currently Tyson is working to reboot Carl Sagan’s series COSMOS to air in spring of 2014. He is in town for an event at the Paramount Theatre.
