When victory in Europe finally came, Churchill led the celebrations. In private, he was depressed, brooding about the dangers of Stalin and communism. Churchill at 7 pm Sunday examines this period of his life.

Masterpiece Mystery! Silk at 8 pm Sunday follows the rivalries, passions and intrigues of criminal law, starring Maxine Peake (Little Dorrit) and Rupert Penry-Jones (The 39 Steps) as rival barristers.

Ken Burns’ The National Parks: America’s Best Idea tells the story of people who were willing to devote themselves to saving a portion of the land they loved, and in doing so reminded their fellow citizens of the full meaning of democracy. The film explores how the national parks came to be over the course of six episodes — The Scripture of Nature on Monday at 8 pm; The Last Refuge on Tuesday at 8 pm; The Empire of Grandeur on Wednesday at 8 pm; Going Home on Thursday at 8 pm; Great Nature on Friday at 8 pm and The Morning of Creation on Saturday at 8 pm.

American Experience on Tuesday at 7 pm tells the story of Mount Rushmore’s creation. It is the story of hucksterism and hyperbole, of a massive public works project in the midst of an economic depression.

Snow geese, pelicans, and bald eagles fly over the Great Plains, the Grand Canyon, Alaska and the Golden Gate Bridge as they encounter and engage with bears, dolphins, bison, and spawning fish on Earthflight, A Nature Special at 7 pm Wednesday.

Contemporary folk rock takes the stage with Mumford & Sons and Flogging Molly on Austin City Limits at 10 pm Wednesday and 11 m Friday.

Comedian, writer and musician Fred Armisen talks about his career on Overheard with Evan Smith at 7 pm Thursday.

Arts In Context at 7:30 pm Thursday tells the story creation of Austin’s live-action graphic novel, The Intergalactic Nemesis.
