KLRU Q - Night at the Movies

KLRU-Q’s Saturday Night at the Movies presents a full-length feature film every Saturday night, plus extra content that gives the evening an exciting spin. Each film explores the work of legendary actors and actresses through many important films from their careers. Here is a peek of what this Saturday has in store:

7:30 – Just Seen It
We review three very different movies – the new comedy Identity Thief, starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, Sylvester Stallone’s new action thriller in Bullet To The Head, and the documentary about Shin Bet, Israel’s clandestine security agency – The Gatekeepers.

8:00 – Bedazzled
A short-order cook (Dudley Moore) with a crush on a waitress (Eleanor Bron) makes a deal with the devil (Peter Cook). Cast: Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Eleanor Bron.

9:46 – Smothered: The Censorship Struggles of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
Examines the turmoil that surrounded the late-1960s variety show, including the events that led to its cancellation. With a young and brash stable of writers and performers, including Steve Martin and Rob Reiner, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour brought an edgy new brand of political comedy to the airwaves for three seasons. When they were fired in 1969, brothers Tom and Dick Smothers took on their network, CBS, in the courts for a landmark lawsuit. . .and won. This is the fascinating true story as told by its key players, including the Smothers Brothers, show writers Rob Reiner and Mason William, performers Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Harry Belafonte, and former CBS executives.
