Readers know writer Leonard Pitts as a novelist and Pulitzer-winning newspaper columnist. His column, written for The Miami Herald, appears twice weekly and addresses a wide range of political and social issues. His column “We’ll Go Forward From This Moment,” written in response to the September 11 attacks, generated more than 30,000 emails. More recently, he has written widely about the shooting of Trayvon Martin, the push to limit the size of sugary drinks sold in New York, the Internet’s effect on our behavior and the issue of voter suppression. Pitts’ new novel, Freeman, was published last month.

We hope you’ll be there as Overheard with Evan Smith continues a second season of great conversation with fascinating people, always on the news and always with a sense of humor. The show features in-depth interviews with a mix of guests from politics, the arts, literature, journalism, business, sports and more, and reaches PBS viewers from California to Florida. We’d love to see you in the studio for the interview, and for a chance to join the audience Q&A after the interview.
