Bill Keller’s career with the Times has stretched for more than 25 years, spanning a period of great change in the industry and the world. Keller began his career with the Times in 1984 as a Washington-based correspondent. He later served as bureau chief in Moscow, winning a Pulitzer in 1989 for his coverage of the Soviet Union. After that assignment, Keller became chief of the Johannesburg bureau. He followed that with time as foreign editor and managing editor before his 2003 appointment as executive editor.
