Texas Performing Arts and KLRU invite you to spend a fascinating evening with bestselling author, journalist, and food activist Michael Pollan on December 10 at Bass Concert Hall. Tickets are on sale now at texasperformingarts.org
For the past twenty years Pollan has written about the places the human and natural worlds intersect, challenging the way Americans think about eating. His documentary The Botany of Desire will air on Tuesday, November 30, at 7 pm
Central Texans are increasingly moving toward healthful, locally produced, and sustainable food options, and Pollan has been at the front of the movement. In books such as The Omnivore’s Dilemma and In Defense of Food, Pollan demonstrates how difficult it is to navigate today’s complex world of food production. The 2009 PBS two-hour documentary based on his book, The Botany of Desire, as well as his latest book, Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual, has prompted a generation to consider rules for eating to live healthier and happier lives.
