KLRU will be taping an episode of Texas Monthly Talks featuring Dee Dee Myers on Friday, April 3. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the taping starts at 10 a.m.

Myers served as White House Press Secretary during President Bill Clinton’s first term, becoming the first woman to hold that position. She left the White House at the end of 1994. Myers is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and the author of the bestselling book Why Women Should Rule the World.

Ask This Old House “Special Projects for Kids: Building a Vegetable Garden”
Saturday, March 28, 5:30 p.m.

Each month, KLRU identifies a Family Choice program from our schedule that will interest and engage family members, ages 7 and up. Keep updated on the Family Choice program-of-the-month and ways your family can build and extend the program through discussion and activities.

The annual kid’s episode features family-friendly projects that parents and kids can build together! Landscape contractor Roger Cook helps a 12-year-old budding gardener build a raised bed for growing vegetables. In the Ask This Old House loft, general contractor Tom Silva and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey with the help of several kids, build a miniature indoor golf course. Later, host Kevin O’Connor and a middle school teacher show eager students how to build a model rocket launcher using commonly available household and hardware store items.

Step-by-Step: How to Build a Water Rocket

Nature at 7 p.m. Sunday looks at Hawaii’s Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano, and the spectacular moment when lava meets water, forming new land.

Masterpiece Theatre 8 p.m. Sunday presents “Little Dorrit,” the tale of the Dorrit family’s journey from rags to riches and back again and the characters they come across along the way.

In celebration of one of the greatest voices in all music, Great Performances at 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Thursday looks back over the career of Luciano Pavarotti.

Austin-based, internationally celebrated choral ensemble Conspirare performs in this contemporary concert in Company of Voices at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday.

Documentary fans will have the opportunity to see award-winning P.O.V. films again—or discover them for the first time — in a new monthly online series. Groundbreaking documentaries from P.O.V.’s 21 seasons on PBS can now be seen in their entirety for a limited time on the series’ Webby Award-winning website, www.pbs.org/pov. Among the films on view are American Aloha and My American Girls, at www.pbs.org/pov/videos.html. In March, P.O.V. will stream Sweet Old Song in honor of the centennial of the late Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong. P.O.V. (Point of View), which begins its 22nd season on PBS in June 2009, is American television’s longest-running independent documentary series and the winner of a Special News & Documentary Emmy Award for Excellence in Television Documentary Filmmaking.
