A local supermarket manager decides to stand on an Independent ticket at the General Election on back-to-back episodes of “Masterpiece Theatre: The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard” at 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

PBS’ convention coverage, anchored by Jim Lehrer of The Newshour, will include extended uninterrupted coverage of podium activities and speeches; reporting from the floor of the convention; newsmaker interviews; political analysis and historical perspective. Convention coverage airs from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday.

Ed Slott, an IRA expert, shares strategies viewers can implement to safeguard their retirement savings on “Stay Rich Forever” at 9 p.m. Friday.

America’s favorite malt shop memories are back with this hit collection for lovers only on “My Music: Doo Wop Love Songs” at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Focuses on the years 1965 to 1969 and includes essential ’60s generation folk rock, R&B and pop on “My Music: My Generation The ’60s” at 8 p.m. Saturday.

This never released concert filmed in London in 1977 was the second to the last with Keith Moon on “The Who at Kilburn 1977” at 10 p.m. Saturday.

PBS’ convention coverage, anchored by Jim Lehrer of The Newshour, includes extended uninterrupted coverage of podium activities and speeches; reporting from the floor of the convention; newsmaker interviews; political analysis and historical perspective. The Newshour senior correspondents Gwen Ifill, Ray Suarez, Judy Woodruff and Margaret Warner will join Lehrer. Political analysis will be provided by New York Times columnist David Brooks and syndicated columnist Mark Shields. Presidential historians Michael Beschloss and Richard Norton Smith will add historical perspective; Andy Kohut, president of the Pew Research Center, will update viewers with the latest polling information.

Thursday, August 28:
Events move from the Pepsi Center to Invesco Field at Mile High
A tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. begins the evening, followed by musical performances and speakers. Presumptive Presidential nominee Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver his acceptance speech at the close of the evening.

On September 1st, KLRU will be adjusting the Kids programming blocks on all our channels to add new shows and to reflect other changes by PBS. With the new KLRU lineup, Mr. Rogers will only air once a week at 7 a.m. on Fridays and The Teletubbies will no longer be offered by PBS so will not be part of the KLRU Kids lineup. KLRU is providing several new kids shows for Central Texas kids including including Martha Speaks, Sid the Science Kid and Wunderkind Little Amadeus.

“Wide Angle” at 9 p.m. Tuesday follows aid workers from the Syrian-Iraqi Red Crescent as they help refugees cope with the crisis.

Chilean judge Juan Guzman uncovers the past during the case against ex-dictator Augusto Pinochet in “P.O.V.” at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

“Nova ScienceNow” at 7 p.m. Wednesday explores whether a doomsday asteroid will hit the earth in 2036 and what the consequences could be.

“Nova ScienceNow” at 8 p.m. Wednesday takes a look at startling new research that has recovered ancient proteins from dinosaur bones.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo showcases their combination of South African musical traditions and Christian gospel in “Austin City Limits” at 10 p.m. Wednesday and 11 p.m. Friday.

“Texas Monthly Talks” at 7 p.m. Thursday presents an encore of an interview with John Edwards conducted in 2007.

“Docubloggers” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday looks at how quilting is becoming the fastest growing craft in the nation and follows Docublogger Mark Mederson as he documents the Central U.S. Knife Throwing Championship.

“Downtown” at 8:30 p.m. Thursday takes a closer look at various dancing options downtown as well as street art as a creative outlet for the homeless.

“Road warrior” jam band Widespread Panic performs fan favorites in “Austin City Limits” at 7 p.m. Saturday.
