Nature preserve offers escape from city life
McKinney Roughs Nature Park is a 1,100-acre, LCRA-owned nature preserve along the Colorado River located about 13 miles east of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The park has miles of hiking and equestrian trails, opportunities for canoeing and rafting down the Colorado River, and many educational opportunities. "McKinney Roughs is an outdoor classroom," says John Gosdin, LCRA manager of parks and lands, "It's a place to come and learn something about Central Texas. It's a place to have fun as well."
