By documenting well-known artists as they purposely destroy their own photographic portrait and then recover or remake it anew, transFIGURATION explores the very nature of authorship of art and the resultant cultural response. Through the eyes of portrait photographer, Rino Pizzi, this year of transfigurations will be an adventure. His enthusiasm for the process is infectious, equaled only by a childlike sense of wonder. With little or no budget to speak of, Rino convinces even the most staid Minimalist painter, to mix it up.
