About
Welcome.
Since its inception, Austin's own community licensed public
television station KLRU, has brought exceptional educational
television to the Central Texas community. This non-profit
501 (c) 3 organization is made possible through support from
our members.
For 40 years KLRU has been a friend to Central Texans. KLRU's
mission is to enrich the lives of our viewers through quality
public television programming, community services and public
events like the Distinguished Speaker Series, KLRU Kid's Club
and shows like Austin NOW, Austin City Limits, Central Texas
Gardener and Texas Monthly Talks.
KLRU's Mission
The mission of KLRU is to bring our community ideas and information
to enhance education, culture and citizenship in the new information
age.
KLRU's public service vision is unique: to provide excellent
programming that educates and entertains, informs and inspires,
and which is free and accessible to everyone! KLRU is more
than television, however. It is the Public Square for the
citizens of Central Texas, providing opportunities to bring
diverse people and interests together as a way to deepen the
bonds of community in an increasingly complex world that is
both fragmented and interdependent.
